The Chicago Cubs might be one of the most hurt teams in all of baseball. On Wednesday, RHP Keegan Thompson hit the 15-day IL with a viral illness. To take his place on the roster, LHP Luke Little returns to the majors.

With Thompson hitting the injured list, he becomes the 15th Cub to spend time on the IL this season. That is a nauseating number when considering the fact that it is only May 15.
Thompson owns a 4.97 ERA across nine appearances this season. The righty has struck out 19 batters while only allowing six free passes. However, Thompson has been hit hard lately. Fortunately, a viral illness will bring him back almost immediately once his IL stint is over, but the amount of injuries/illnesses is certainly alarming.
As for Little, he's only made four appearances down in Triple-A Iowa. He has been back and forth quite a bit this season, but owns a 4.05 ERA in the minors. Little has pitched more in the majors this season, but owns a less-than-spectacular 7.00 ERA. However, the Cubs finally have a lefty in the bullpen again after Richard Lovelady was designated for assignment.
The Cubs wrap up their series against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. Javier Assad is on the bump for the Cubs against Charlie Morton and the Braves. First pitch is scheduled for 6:20 p.m. CDT. On Thursday, the Cubs will return home for four games with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
